Ear Candling

This ancient natural ear cleansing technique, passed down from many generations by indigenous peoples of Egypt, China, India, Asia, Europe and North America.

Ear candling was originally done with other healing practices to balance the body and realign the spiritual structure. Originally the candles were made of “cone” shaped glazed pottery with a double helix carved inside, creating a downward counter air flow causing a vacuum action of the cone drawing out the debris from the ear canal.

These gave way to hollow reed or rolled seaweed from swamp areas, which has since been replaced by the hollow beeswax candle that tapers at one end. A square of 100% cotton fabric dipped in natural beeswax is shaped into a cylinder and cold sprayed with essential oils.

The tapered end of the hollow candle is inserted just far enough to create a seal. Once sealed the candle is lit.

As the lit candle slowly burns a gentle vacuum effect is created, which air is drawn up from the Eustachian tube into the inner ear then through the porous membrane out into the outer ear. The heat and the vacuum draw out the wax and other materials from the ear canal into the base of the candle. As it burns down you will hear a lot of cracking and hissing which is the process of removing the wax etc. The warmth feels soothing and relaxing during the process. Once the candle is burned down to a specific length, it is removed and extinguished in water. When finished, the remaining candle can be cut open to see the residue that has been drawn out of the ear. Both ears must be completed during a candling session to create balance.

Ear candling is an extremely safe method of removing earwax buildup. It is effective in cases of stress, ear ache, ear pressure, allergies, balance disorders, headaches, swimmer’s ear is quite often caused by growth of bacteria in the ear plus ear wax which stops the clearing of water from the ear, sinusitis and many other conditions.
Ear Candling is only for the relief of discomfort. It is not intended to treat any disease. For severe health problems, it is suggested that you speak to your health care practitioner.
